# Stick ’Em helps teachers unlock hands-on learning in class

Without extra work or big budgets!

[Bring Stick ’Em to my school](https://stickem.sg/contact/?who=school)

Quick note from our founders

## We’ve been working with 3800+ teachers since 2020

When we were working as STEAM teachers ourselves, we realised that most STEAM kits out there were not designed to help teachers reduce their workload, but instead created a lot of stress, were really expensive, and did not integrate well into classroom contexts around the world. That's why we started Stick 'Em!

3800+ Teachers trained

41,000+ students

22 Countries

Government schools, international schools and village schools, on every kind of budget

## Key things we’re proud of

### Affordable for all schools

5 to 10 times cheaper than traditional STEAM kits and EdTech platforms, so even a school on a tight budget can equip a whole year group.

### Every teacher can run it

No specialist, no lab and no robotics background needed. Teachers run Stick ’Em lessons on their own, and can train their colleagues too.

### Stick ’Em schools keep using us

Schools that start with one year group usually come back for the next. The connectors last 2 to 3 years, and chopsticks are the only thing you replace.

### Ready for class in about two weeks

Kits arrive 12 to 14 days after you order, and one 3-hour certified workshop gets your teachers ready to run their first lesson.

### Multi-subject usage

Science, maths, languages, humanities and art, not just ICT and robotics. Art and English teachers use it as often as science teachers do.

### Curriculum mapping already available

We map our lessons to your national curriculum line by line. 8 countries are done already, and we’ll map yours when you start.

Stick ’Em was created alongside teachers, for teachers ❤️

## The Stick ’Em Solution

Stick 'Em is an all-in-one solution that combines hardware, ready-made lesson materials, and certified teacher training that helps you and your fellow teachers to integrate more hands-on learning without the added stress.

## Hardware that can be used across multiple subjects

Stick ’Em’s philosophy is that STEAM hardware should never serve just a single purpose.

Our STEAM kit is designed to be used across different classes, for storytelling, prototyping and tinkering.

## 1 Classroom Set = 40 students tinkering

A classroom set comes with 10 individual kits combined into easy-storage plastic bins, which allows you to run hands-on learning for an entire classroom with very little hassle in groups of 3 to 4. One classroom set serves up to 40 students.
- 1 Classroom Set = 10 individual kits
- Up to 40 students, in groups of 3 to 4
- Used across multiple subjects, not just ICT and robotics
- Contains the electronics board, motors, chopsticks and geometric connectors
- Plastic bins make it easy to pack up
- Lightweight and portable

Classroom requirementsWhat do I need to run it?

You probably have all four already.

### A normal classroom

Ordinary tables are all you need. The building part of a lesson needs no power or internet.

### One device per group

A laptop, Chromebook or iPad for every 3 to 4 students, to control their builds over Bluetooth.

### A projector

To show the Stick ’Em Academy lesson slides to the whole class.

### A little storage space

The whole Classroom Set packs back into its bins at the end of every lesson.

Note: the Sensor Kit is an add-on and is not included in a Classroom Set.

From teachers

## Most teachers who use Stick ’Em are not science teachers

After every workshop we ask teachers what they would tell a colleague. This is how they rated it.

“Do it. It’ll change your perception of robotics to a positive one, to something that is actually doable.”

Teacher Sekolah Rendah Lumut, Brunei

“Common misconception: robotics is hard. But today, it became a myth.”

Teacher After a school workshop, Singapore

“I learned that it doesn’t take a robotics teacher to create a robot.”

Teacher Colegio de San Juan de Letran Calamba, Philippines

“Electronics is not as intimidating as I had thought it to be.”

Teacher Sekolah Rendah Katok B, Brunei

“They were so engaged my Principal had to force everyone out and stop for lunch, lol.”

Teacher After a staff workshop, Singapore

“Stick ’Em is very easy to use and very kid friendly. Students can learn coding in a few minutes.”

Teacher Sekolah Rendah Haji Tarif, Brunei

“It makes STEAM interdisciplinary in lessons much easier and visible.”

Teacher Maktab Sains, Brunei

“No limits to creativity. Can be applied as a module for student engagement in any topic or subject.”

Teacher Riverside Primary School, Singapore

“Program is easy to follow, even for non computer background.”

Teacher Sekolah Menengah Masin, Brunei

“At first it may seem challenging because it is a whole new spectrum for us, but it is definitely worth it and easy to learn!”

Faculty member University of Santo Tomas, Philippines

“Jump out of the box, trust your teammates and put on this ‘trial-and-error’ hat. Enjoy it.”

Teacher Bowen Secondary School, Singapore

“Very eye opening and could make STEAM lesson planning more easier.”

Teacher Sekolah Rendah Sultan Hassan, Brunei

Art, English, Mother Tongue and social studies teachers run Stick ’Em lessons as often as science teachers do. You don’t need a STEAM background: every Stick ’Em Academy lesson comes ready to teach, with slides, a materials list, build steps and discussion questions.

## Questions teachers ask

GeneralTeaching with itWhat is in the kitPricing and buying

## General

### I have never taught robotics. Can I really run this?

Yes. Most teachers who run Stick ’Em hadn’t either. The 3-hour workshop takes you from never having seen the kit to planning your own lesson.

### What exactly is in the kit?

Bamboo chopsticks and 3D-printed connectors make the frame, and an electronic board with motors makes it move. No part arrives pre-shaped, so students work out the structure themselves. A Sensor Kit adds ultrasonic, light, temperature, humidity and gyroscope sensors and an LCD screen, and is bought separately.

### What does it cost?

It depends on how many classes you are equipping, whether you add a teacher workshop, and whether you take Academy access. A Classroom Set covers up to 40 students and is 5 to 10 times cheaper than traditional STEAM kits. Tell us how many classes you have and we will send a quote in your school’s name.

### How much preparation does a lesson take?

Very little. Every Stick ’Em Academy lesson comes ready to teach, with slides, a materials list, build steps and discussion questions, so you only need to read it through.

### What is the difference between a Robotics Kit, a Classroom Set and a Sensor Kit?

A Robotics Kit is one kit: connectors, chopsticks, a board and motors. A Classroom Set is 10 Robotics Kits in one box, for up to 40 students working in groups of 2 to 4. A Sensor Kit is an add-on, sold separately and not included in a Classroom Set.

### Can we try it before committing?

Yes. Most schools start with a pilot: 1 or 2 Classroom Sets, Academy access for one cohort and a teacher workshop, run over a term. Ask us for a pilot quote sized to your school.

[See every question we get asked](https://stickem.sg/faq/)

## Teaching with it

Running it in a normal classroom: preparation, timing, which subjects, which ages, class management

### I have never taught robotics. Can I really run this?

Yes. Most teachers who run Stick ’Em hadn’t either. The 3-hour workshop takes you from never having seen the kit to planning your own lesson.

### How much preparation does a lesson take?

Very little. Every Stick ’Em Academy lesson comes ready to teach, with slides, a materials list, build steps and discussion questions, so you only need to read it through.

### Which subjects does it fit?

Science, maths, languages, art, social studies, geography and character education. A catapult becomes an angles lesson, a coastal barrier becomes a geography lesson, and a build the class has to pitch becomes a language lesson. The Academy is organised by subject, so you can start from yours.

### How long is a lesson, and does it fit a normal period?

A 60-minute period fits building, testing and presenting. In 45 minutes, run a shorter build and hear from 3 groups instead of all of them. Either way, a basic build finishes within one lesson.

### What age is it for?

Students aged 9 and up can build on their own. Ages 7 to 9 work well with a teacher or parent nearby. We don’t recommend it for children under 7, because small hands find it hard to push a chopstick into a connector. The same kit is also used in polytechnics and universities.

### How do I manage a whole class building at once?

Put students in groups of 2 to 4 around one kit, with a role for each person. A quick parts count at the start and end of the lesson helps, and for younger classes a second adult makes a big difference.

[See all 8 questions on teaching with it](https://stickem.sg/faq/#teaching)

## What is in the kit

What arrives, what it is made of, what a student can build, and what happens when a part breaks

### What can students build?

Cars, cranes, cable cars, catapults, drawing machines, dragon boats, gliders, humanoid robots and more. One Classroom Set has enough chopsticks and connectors for hundreds of different builds, and everything else comes from the classroom: cardboard, string, bottles and tape.

### Does it need a screen, and does it need charging?

Not for building. Chopsticks grip into the connectors by friction, with no glue, screws, batteries or apps. To make a build move, you need the board, a USB power bank and a device to control it from.

### What devices do we need in the classroom?

Laptops or Chromebooks with Chrome or Edge, which connect to control.stickem.sg over Bluetooth. On iPads, download the Stick ’Em Control app from the App Store, because Safari does not support Web Bluetooth. Each group of 3 or 4 students only needs one device.

### Do students need to know how to code?

No. Most classes start by driving their build from the control app. Block coding, and even vibe coding a web app, are there when a class is ready to go further, but neither is needed for a first lesson.

[See all 9 questions on what is in the kit](https://stickem.sg/faq/#product)

## Pricing and buying

What it costs, trying it first, purchase orders and tenders, delivery, and what to do if something arrives broken

### Can we try it before committing?

Yes. Most schools start with a pilot: 1 or 2 Classroom Sets, Academy access for one cohort and a teacher workshop, run over a term. Ask us for a pilot quote sized to your school.

### Do I have to subscribe to the Academy as well as buy the kit?

No. The kits are a one-off purchase and the Academy is a yearly subscription, so a school can buy one without the other. Anyone can use the 20+ free lessons, and the full library and customised lessons come with a school subscription. The teacher workshop is priced separately.

### How do we raise a purchase order, and can you invoice our finance office?

Yes. We send a dated quote, you raise a purchase order, and we invoice a few days before delivery. You pay once the goods arrive. Singapore government schools can use e-invoicing through Vendors@Gov, and we can split a quote into hardware, training and Academy for separate budget lines.

### Do we need to run a tender?

That is up to your finance office. Stick ’Em Private Limited (UEN 202216916C) is the only distributor of Stick ’Em in Singapore, and we can provide a sole distributor declaration letter and a quote in your school’s name for whichever route your office chooses.

### Is there a discount for buying several sets?

Yes. Multi-set and pilot bundles bring the cost per set down, and delivery within Singapore is often waived. We also look at charity and NGO requests case by case, so tell us how many classrooms and which term.
