What we collect when you only read

Nothing that tells us who you are. This website has no login, no profile and no database of its readers. Visits are counted with Google Analytics, as described under Cookies below, in a way that does not identify you.

Our host, Vercel, logs ordinary web-server information for every request, including your IP address, the page asked for, the time and your browser’s user-agent string. That is how any website on the internet is served and how abuse is detected. We do not combine those logs with anything else and we do not use them to identify individual readers.

Cookies

This website uses Google Analytics to count visits: which pages people read, how they arrived, roughly where in the world they are, and what kind of device they use. It sets a few first-party cookies to do that. We use it to see which pages are useful and to fix the ones that are not, and for nothing else. Nothing is used for advertising, and Google’s ad features are switched off.

If you are in Europe (the EU, the EEA, the UK or Switzerland), we ask first. Until you say yes, Google Analytics is not loaded and no cookie is set. Everywhere else, it is on from your first visit, and this page is where we tell you.

Your IP address is anonymised before it is stored. We cannot see who you are, and we do not combine this with anything else we hold.

One more thing is kept in your browser: a random string used to tell one visit apart from another. It is held in sessionStorage, it is not a cookie, and it is deleted when you close the tab. Your answer to the cookie question is kept in your browser too, so we only ask once.

You can change your answer at any time with the button below, or block cookies in your browser settings. The site works the same either way.

When you write to us

When you press Send it on our contact form or our quote request, your answers are sent over an encrypted connection and saved in a spreadsheet in our Google Workspace account, where only the Stick ’Em team can read them. If that cannot go through, the form opens your own email app instead, with the answers already written out and addressed to founders@stickem.sg, and nothing is sent until you press send there. The newsletter line in the footer also works by opening your own email app.

What we then hold is your form answers or your email, containing whatever you chose to write: usually a name, a work email address, a school or organisation, and what you are asking about. We use it to answer you and to carry on that conversation, and for nothing else.

We keep enquiries for as long as the conversation is live and for up to two years afterwards, so that we can pick up where we left off when a school comes back the following term. After that they are deleted.

Who else sees it

We do not sell personal data, and we do not share it for anyone else’s marketing.

Three suppliers necessarily handle it because they run the pipes: Vercel, which hosts this site, Google Workspace, which carries our email and our contact form, and Google Analytics, which counts visits. Each processes it on our instructions under its own terms.

Where a country programme runs through a local distributor or a ministry, we will tell you in the reply before passing an enquiry on, and we pass it on only if you want us to.

Children

This website is written for teachers, school leaders, ministries and distributors. It is not aimed at children and it asks nobody for their age.

Stick ’Em is used by children in classrooms, and none of that use touches this website: a child building with the kit is not asked to visit it, sign in to it or give it anything. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 13 here. If you believe a child has sent us something, write to us and we will delete it.

Your rights, and how to use them

Under the PDPA you may ask what personal data of yours we hold and how it has been used, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. If you are in the EU or the UK, the GDPR gives you the same rights plus the right to object and to receive a copy in a portable form.

One email does all of it. Write to hello@stickem.sg with what you want and we will do it within 30 days. There is no form to fill in, no account to log into, and no charge.

If we hold nothing, we will tell you that instead.

Security

The site is served over HTTPS only, with content-type, framing and referrer protections set at the edge, and it asks for no camera, microphone or location permission from your browser.

No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure. What reduces the risk here more than anything is that there is nothing to break into: this site holds no accounts and no personal data.

Changes

If this policy changes in substance, the effective date at the top changes with it. If a change affects what we collect from you, we will say so on this page rather than quietly amending it.

The Control App has its own policy

The Stick ’Em Control App connects to a Stick ’Em board over Bluetooth and collects different things from this website: board telemetry and anonymous session analytics. It has its own policy.
